Welcome to Shoreline Artistry

Living near salt water has created many opportunities to explore, to create, and to write. I started gathering small treasure troves of tiny shells, each a marvel of mathematical precision. This led to creating coasters with resin, then earrings and pendants, and even custom tiles for kitchen or bathroom backsplashes.

The water on the Sound is cold, but it too needed to be explored. With mask and snorkel, various items of neoprene, and a waterproof camera, I now regularly swim and photograph what is living just beyond the shore. Next step? Learning about the life in our water and writing a photo-journal to share this very chilly world for others to see and enjoy (without the need to become a human popsicle).

After taking watercolor painting classes, I ventured into this form of art. Many of my paintings feature animals I've seen in the water. Other paintings feature birds like herons or pelicans. Birds also have some humorous expressions, and as this is entertaining to me, I've recreated some of these into other watercolor paintings.

Sewing is another past time that is entertaining, especially when I can create a new pattern or modify another one and form my own special stuffies. These include nudibranchs, bay pipe fish, and octopus. Then there are puzzle stuffies. These animals are each made up of three sections that can be assembled and taken apart.
